Blond Gay Man: I am convinced that the only thing that helps us get over our previous relationships…is our next relationship.
Asian Woman: I love that.
Blond Gay Man: I don’t.
Asian Woman: So you don’t think we’re ever fully healed, and that the next lover aids in the healing process?
Blond Gay Man: Yes. And I…think that’s sad.

In the year 1174, the ladies under the Countess of Champagne got together to write a code of 31 items of the laws that governed love. This reminds me of number 17: “A new love makes one quit the old.”
AV: I adore number 17. I’m not so certain I believe that, anymore. Although I know that I did (at least) once. Good to know the ladies of the Countess of Champagne and I were at one time on the same proverbial page, though; at least I was in good company.
Okay, someone stole that from Sex and the City. Or maybe that was “what defines our relationships is our next relationship.” Hm, I dunno.
Riese: Weeeeell…
Considering that this exchange actually occurred four years ago, and that it was not necessarily “overheard” but participated in, and that the “Blond Gay Man” participant was drinking way too much at the time following a break-up that he was still not over, and also crying into his Japanese / Chinese / Korean take-out every evening while watching his “Sex And The City” DVDs non-stop, and that this “Blond Gay Man” was actually, well, me?
I think you’re probably correct in guessing that the sentiment was stolen from “SATC,” my dear.
