Curious Affairs Of Atherton Bartelby

Curious briefings on culture, design, and the digital world, as observed through the looking glass by Atherton Bartelby.

A Very Brief Travel Rant

triton_flat.jpg

All right. I realize that I am ranting quite a lot these days, and for that I apologize, but since when did it become so difficult to get a room at The Triton for less than $200?! Does anyone else not remember when boutique hotel rooms used to be chic and economical?!

All right.

Deep breath.

Relax.

Now back to Hip City Hotels for comparison shopping…

  1. The Painter says:

I still think you’re being irrational about staying at a hotel but whatever. Your choice. If you want I can get you my rate at The W. ;-)

  2. Well, you know me: “irrational” is my modus operandi. *innocent smile*

Thank you very much for the offer, but I think that would make me feel somehow beholden to you.

And I really do not want to feel beholden to anyone, on this vacation.

  3. AV says:

Remember when boutique hotels were economical? We were, like, FIVE!

  4. Seriously! I may as well do the Hotel Nikko or The Fucking Mandarin, for Christ’s Sake, for that price! PFFT!

    Boutique hotels are OVER.

    OVER!

    LMFAO!
